The Story

A collection built for a family. A silence no one could explain.

Chuck spent nearly six decades collecting ,; not just cards, but a piece of American history meant for the grandchildren who came after him. When a significant part of that collection disappeared from the house on Harbor Cove Drive, Paul Graze believed the process would be simple: report it, and someone would look.

Instead, he found silence. No report. No investigation. No one willing to open the door he kept knocking on. What began as a missing collection became a years-long record of vehicles, patterns, agencies, and unanswered questions ,; a paper trail one man refused to let disappear along with everything else he had already lost.

"It begins with sports cards, but it does not end with them ,; what disappeared was never only a collection." Paul Graze, The House on Harbor Cove

The floor was still clean. The furniture was still where it belonged. The light still came through the windows in the same familiar way. There was no broken glass, no door hanging open, no chair knocked over to tell me something had happened. But something had happened. I could feel it before I could fully accept it.

I stood in front of the place where parts of Chuck’s collection should have been and stared as if staring long enough would bring the boxes back …
